PDO Threads

Richard Peppiatt - Harley Street Certified Facial & Body Aesthetic Practitioner (Specialist Honours)

PDO threads are simply inserted into the skin to lift and improve skin texture.

What is a PDO Thread Lift?

Great for loose or sagging skin, PDO threads need no cuts or incisions. This treatment is done purely with injections.

The PDO threads are simply inserted into the skin with a very fine needle to lift tissue and muscle and improve skin texture.

The threads used are Polydioxanone (PDO) which are a synthetic fibre that dissolves after a certain time in the skin. Polydioxanone has been used in medicine for many years now, typically in surgery.

By introducing the PDO thread in the skin it can create similar effects to surgical facelift and you get immediate improvement in its appearance. After around 10-14 days synthesis begins with the body's natural proteins (collagen and elastin).

The overall treatment effects are an improved skin texture as it becomes thicker in volume, tighter and firmer and fine lines and wrinkles are smoothed away.

Along with other beneficial factors such as narrowing of the pores, your skin looking brightened and raising any sagging of the skin. This process continues throughout the period of maintaining the threads in the body (up to 6-8 months)

How long do the effects of a PDO Thread Lift last?

The results and effects will last up to 36 months and the treatment is suitable for patients aged 30-65 years.

What areas can PDO Threads treat?

The threads are extremely versatile and can be used all around the face and neck. They can treat vertical and horizontal wrinkles on the forehead, sagging brows, drooping cheeks, pronounced nasolabial (nose to mouth) and marionette (corner of mouth to chin) folds, sagging jawline and neck and folds and wrinkles on the chin.

You can also treat areas such as the Decollette area and many areas that are sagging on the body as well which we can guide you upon. Generally cheeks are the prime area for treatment to start even in the age of the 30's. Richard Peppiatt will guide you through best areas to be treated in your free consultation.

How long does the PDO Thread Lift take

The time for a thread lift procedure will vary depending on the areas that are treated but it can typically take up to around 1 hour to do a full non surgical facelift.

How safe is the PDO Thread treatment?

Like with all injectable procedures bruising can happen. The degree of bruising varies not only depending on the area being treated, but also from patient to patient. However, you do need to be aware that considerable bruising could possibly occur, and plan your social calendar, daily activities or work commitments around this.

We can guide you on treatments that will help alleviate bruising and minimise any possible outbreak of bruising that may occur from the procedure.

Aftercare guidelines

Once the procedure is complete you will be provided with aftercare instructions to follow. Recovery times are usually less than one week although strenuous exercise should be avoided for between 2 and 3 weeks. A follow up appointment will be made 1 month post treatment then 6 months post treatment.
