What is Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is the unique combination of art and science developed by Dr Michel Pistor of Paris, France 1952. It is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure.

What can it be used for?

It has many applications.
Its cosmentic usage includes:
  • weight loss
  • cellulite reduction
  • hair re-growth/alopecia
  • face and neck rejuvenation/mesolift
  • body sculpturing.

How does mesotherapy work for Cellulite?

Mesotherapy involves injecting small amounts of homeopathic medicine beneath the surface of the skin to break down cellulite and to improve circulation. The addition of Vitamin C to the mixture encourages the tone and quality of the overlying skin. Mesotherapy melts the fat in the skin and breaks up the network of connective tissue fibers that form trapping of cells and resulting in cellulite. The medicine is injected into the cellulite or fatty tissue to improve circlulation of lymphatic and venous drainage by increasing the metabolism of the injected area. The fat dissolves and, as occurs when fat is broken downduring typical weight loss carried through the bloodstream and excreted by kidneys and bowel. Therefore very little in any medicine reaches the general circulation and in any case the level is so low that it has no effect on the rest of the body.

Is it safe?

The fat dissolves and, as occurs when fat is broken down during typical weight loss, is carried through the bloodstream and excreted by kidneys and bowel. Therefore very little in any medicine reaches the general circulation and in any case the level is so low that it has no effect on the rest of the body.

Where does cellulite usually appear?

It commonly appears on the hips, buttocks and legs. It appears in the suncutaneous level of skin tissue. Fat cells are arranged in chambers surrounded by connective tissue called septae. As water is retained, fat cells held within the perimeters of this area expand and strech the connective tissue. Eventually this connective tissue contacts and hardens (sclerosis) holding the skin at a non-flexible length, while the surrounding tissue continues to expand with weight, or water gain. The result is areas of the skin being held down while other sections bulge outward, resulting in the lumpy appearence.

The Treatment:

The treatment may be carried out immediately after an initial consultation at which point you will be informed as to how many treatments you will require. Mesotherapy is peformed once or twice a week oer a period of 4-8 weeks. Some individuals may require a course of 4 weeks, although a full treatment course takes 8 weeks. We recommend Mesotherapy for all types of cellulite.

How much will it cost?

  • 1 Treatment for £100
  • 8 Treatments for £700 (saving £100)
  • 16 Treatments for £1300 (saving £300)
  • The Mesolift procedure costs £100 per session and the areas available are the face neck and décolleté.
It is recommended that the Mesolift treatment takes place monthly for the first 3 months and then 3 monthly their onwards.

Are there any side effects?

A common side effect of Mesotherapy is bruising, which generally resolves after a week. Mesotherapy can be a little incomfortable but not painful. It is best to avoid contact with the sun directly after treatment as this may produce pigmentation.
